In a travel advisory issued by the Ministry of Transportation, residents were informed that certain roads will experience partial closures on April 8 and 9, 2026. The government said the measure is aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and maintaining safety during the scheduled events.
According to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the affected areas include Ikeja, Ojota, Ajegunle, and Victoria Island, where several key projects will be commissioned.
On April 8, traffic disruptions are expected around Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, and Ojota between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. due to the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
On April 9, two additional events are scheduled. The first, taking place at the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., is expected to affect traffic around Olodi Apapa and nearby areas, with commuters urged to plan their movements accordingly.
Later that day, another event will hold at Eko Hotel in Victoria Island from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where increased traffic is anticipated due to security arrangements and high attendance. Road users are encouraged to avoid the area or expect delays.
The government noted that officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority will be deployed to manage traffic and assist commuters throughout the period.
Residents were urged to cooperate with traffic officials and adhere to all instructions, as the closures are temporary and necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of the events
