Security sources said the operation was based on credible intelligence indicating that the armed group was preparing a coordinated assault on the communities.
Acting on the intelligence, the combined security team set up an ambush before the attackers could reach their target areas.
Reports indicate that more than 300 armed bandits, travelling on motorcycles, were intercepted as they advanced toward the communities. They were said to be heavily armed at the time of the encounter.
According to sources, the ambush resulted in the deaths of several attackers, while others fled in different directions, including toward the Makuba and Allawa axis.
Residents of the affected communities expressed relief and gratitude to the security forces and local volunteers, describing the swift response as crucial in averting a major tragedy.
The operation has been described as a reflection of growing cooperation between security agencies and community-based vigilante groups in tackling insecurity in rural areas.
Security sources noted that this collaboration is helping to strengthen local defence efforts and close existing security gaps, making community-level response more effective.
