Worshippers narrowly escaped a fatal accident when a truck loaded with mangoes collided with a mosque in Barade House, opposite the Old Licensing Office in the Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State. The incident occurred during the early hours of Friday, April 4, 2024.

According to sources, worshippers had just finished their Tahajud prayers when the incident occurred. The section of the mosque affected by the collision was where women and children usually gathered for the Tahajud prayers.

The driver of the truck, which was en route from Bida, Niger State to Sokoto with four passengers, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the road.

As a result of the collision, one of the parked cars outside the mosque was pushed onto the veranda.

Yahaya Suleiman, a resident, expressed gratitude that the accident occurred shortly after worshippers had left the mosque. He noted that no lives were lost, although the mosque sustained significant damage.

Mustapha Sokoto, one of the passengers in the truck, recounted waking up to find himself on the ground after the collision. He stated that the incident happened around 4 am while he was asleep.
