Tragedy In Abuja: AEDC Staff Electrocuted To Death While Fixing Power Line

A staff member of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Mustapha Isa, tragically lost his life on Thursday, May 29, while attempting to fix an electrical fault in the Mabushi area of Abuja.

Isa was working atop an electric pole around 5:50 p.m. when he was electrocuted. The shock caused him to fall from the pole, resulting in a fatal head injury.

According to reports, the incident occurred near the Mabushi AEDC office. Isa was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Gwarinpa, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Jabi for an autopsy.

The AEDC management described the incident as “a deeply regrettable tragedy” and extended heartfelt condolences to Isa’s family. They also promised to reinforce safety protocols and enhance staff training to prevent future incidents.

The company has previously faced criticism over its safety practices, with ongoing concerns about insufficient protective gear and substandard safety procedures.
