According to information obtained by DAILY POST, the assailants invaded the community around midnight, firing heavily. Local residents reported that attempts to contact vigilantes during the assault were unsuccessful, as the security personnel on duty did not respond to calls, likely due to the intense gunfire from the bandits.

While the exact reason for the killing remains unclear, it is speculated that Mr. Chuks may have resisted the attackers. A source told AFRIPOST, “The bandits arrived at midnight when everyone was asleep. It seems the man didn’t cooperate with them, which might be why they killed him.”

This area behind the Primary School in Ushafa has a history of violent incidents. A similar attack occurred a few months ago, where bandits killed a man and kidnapped his pregnant wife and children. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with that abduction.

Efforts to reach the FCT police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, were unsuccessful, as her phone line was constantly busy.

In response to this latest incident, an emergency meeting of the enlarged Ushafa community was convened and was ongoing at the time of this report, aimed at addressing the current security situation.
