Describing the tragedy as both painful and unacceptable, Governor AbdulRazaq lamented the persistent disregard for safety measures—particularly the failure to use life-saving equipment provided by the government.
In a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the victims’ souls.
The fatal mishap was reportedly caused by a combination of overloading and harsh weather conditions, in clear violation of existing regulations mandating life jacket usage and prohibiting night-time travel.
