The announcement of his death was made by the Secretary of the Ningi Emirate, Alhaji Usman Sule, in a statement written in Hausa. Funeral prayers for the Emir are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday at the Emir’s Palace in Ningi.

Born in 1936 in Ningi, Alhaji Yunusa was a highly revered first-class traditional ruler in Nigeria’s North East Geographical Zone. His reign was marked by a commitment to justice, fairness, and the development of his emirate, which experienced significant growth under his leadership.

Alhaji Yunusa received his education at Ningi Elementary School, Bauchi Middle School, and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria. He had a distinguished career in public administration and the Native Authority (NA) Administration, where he served in various capacities, including dispenser, councilor, and welfare officer, before ascending to the throne as Emir of Ningi in 1978. He was later elevated to first-class status in 1998.

Throughout his life, Alhaji Yunusa made substantial contributions to national development, earning numerous accolades, including the prestigious Officer of the Order of Niger (OON). He also played active roles in organizations such as Jama’atul Nasril Islam (JNI) and the National Council of States.

The Emir is survived by his family, including his 24 children.
