Tragedy Strikes Jigawa: Over 90 Fatalities In Massive ExplosionAt least 90 people have been confirmed dead following a petrol tanker explosion in Majiya Town, Taura local government area of Jigawa State, on Tuesday.

Mr. Shi’isu Adam, the Police Spokesperson in Jigawa, provided this update in an interview with NAN on Wednesday. He also reported that around 50 others have been hospitalized with various injuries from the blast.

The incident occurred around 11:30 PM when the tanker driver lost control near Khadija University. The driver was en route from Kano to Nguru in Yobe when the explosion happened.

Adam expressed concern over the ongoing danger, stating that despite police warnings to avoid accident scenes involving fuel tankers, people continue to gather, contributing to the high casualty count.

A mass burial for the victims is scheduled for 9 AM on Wednesday, and the injured are currently receiving medical care at Ringim General Hospital.
