Reports indicate that an assailant forcefully entered their residence and mercilessly stabbed 20-year-old Mercy multiple times. Grace Onuhi, the deceased’s sister, recounted the horrifying incident during an interview with Nigeria Television Authority on Monday. According to her, Esther Amali rushed out of her bedroom upon hearing Mercy’s screams but tragically met the same fate.
Despite Amali being described as a calm person who had no known issues with anyone, the assailant targeted her as well. Onuhi explained that the attacker entered the premises by jumping through the fence and stabbed Mercy, prompting Amali to investigate the commotion. Sadly, both were fatally stabbed, leaving a knife behind at the crime scene.
The sister revealed that the suspect had previously issued threats against Mercy for undisclosed reasons. Sewuese Anene, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that it was reported at D Division. An ongoing investigation aims to uncover the motives behind the gruesome act and bring the perpetrator to justice.
Anene addressed conflicting accounts surrounding the incident, with some suggesting a robbery and others claiming knowledge of the assailant. She urged patience, assuring that the police would soon provide findings based on their investigation. The remains of the victims have been deposited at the mortuary as the community grapples with the shock and loss caused by this tragic event.
