Aged 47, Adekanla was last seen on February 12, 2024, causing concern among neighbors after attempts to contact her proved futile. The State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, February 15, 2024, revealing that detectives from the Dutse Division were deployed to investigate.

“On 15/02/2024, at about 1600hrs, information at the command’s disposal revealed that Adekanla, popularly known as HADIZA NAKOWA DUTSE, was last seen on Monday by her neighbors,” the statement disclosed.

Acting on the report, detectives from the Dutse Division proceeded to her house and found it locked with a broken door. Inside, they discovered her lifeless body in the sitting room, surrounded by a pool of blood. The spokesperson mentioned visible cuts on the deceased’s head and neck, with the body already in a state of decomposition.

Additionally, Adekanla’s 11-year-old daughter was found unconscious in a locked storage room. Both victims were swiftly taken to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse for medical attention. Unfortunately, a medical doctor confirmed the death of the restaurant owner, and the body was transported to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for autopsy.

Due to the severity of the offense, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa Command, Ahmadu Abdullahi, instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse, to conduct a thorough investigation. The aim is to uncover the motive behind the killing and apprehend the culprits who are currently on the run.

In addressing the community, the spokesperson urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation. The Commissioner of Police assured that anyone found guilty would be prosecuted according to the law.
