The Nollywood industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran actor Prince Oyewole Olowomojuore, popularly known as Baba Gebu.

Actor Kunle Afod broke the sad news on his Instagram page, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of the legendary star.

In his emotional post, Afod hailed Baba Gebu as a remarkable figure in Nollywood, revealing that he passed away on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, after a brief illness. Sharing photos of the late actor, Afod prayed for his peaceful rest.

He wrote, “It saddens my heart to announce the passing of our great legend, a phenomenal actor who left us this evening after a brief illness… BABA GEBU, may your soul rest in peace.”

Baba Gebu enjoyed a long and illustrious career in Nigerian cinema, particularly in Yoruba-language films, contributing to numerous notable productions.

In 2024, he had opened up about the death of his wife, noting that returning to acting helped him cope and stave off depression. Throughout his career, many fellow actors, including Afod, supported him in his continued work in the industry.
