Tragic Outcome: Driver Fatally Shot During Liberation Of Abducted Ekiti Schoolchildren And Teachers

The abduction occurred on Monday evening as the victims were returning to Eporo after school. The kidnappers intercepted their bus along Emure – Eporo Road, firing shots before abducting five students, three female teachers, and the driver.

In a rescue operation conducted in the early hours of Sunday, all nine abductees were successfully freed. However, the driver lost his life, suspectedly killed by the abductors.

A government official in Emure Ekiti verified the release, stating, “The abductees are here, the parents and family members are here. I will give you details shortly.” Additionally, a source confirmed that officials from the state Ministry of Health were present to transport the released individuals to Ado Ekiti, the state capital, for necessary medical attention.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State reassured the parents and families of the kidnapped pupils and staff on Saturday, expressing confidence that they would soon be rescued and reunited with their loved ones.
