In the Budah Hausa village of Kajuru Local Government Area in Kaduna State, tragedy struck as bandits executed five out of the sixty-one villagers they abducted three weeks earlier.

Reports indicate that on Tuesday, 51 hostages regained their freedom following the payment of an undisclosed ransom amount to the criminals.

Benjamin Maigari, a resident of the area, confirmed the release of the captives, revealing that unfortunately, five victims who couldn’t meet the additional ransom demands set by the bandits were mercilessly killed.

Maigari further disclosed that the released individuals are grappling with psychological trauma after enduring harrowing experiences in the hands of the bandits. Many of them are unable to walk, having suffered immensely during their captivity, where they were often chained.

Among those released, two were discovered to have sustained gunshot wounds to their legs while in captivity.

Efforts are underway to provide medical attention to those whose condition deteriorated post-release, with some being rushed to an undisclosed hospital for urgent treatment.
