On Friday, The Apex Court affirmed Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru’s election victory after dismissing appeals by PDP’s Chief Ifeanyi Odii and APGA’s Prof. Benard Odoh. CONTINUE READING
The court held that the appeals lacked merit and upheld the concurrent decisions of the Governorship Election Tribunal and the Court of Appeal. The petitioners challenged Nwifuru’s eligibility, citing certificate forgery, corrupt practices, and non-compliance with electoral laws.
INEC declared Nwifuru winner with 199,131 votes, but the tribunal and Court of Appeal dismissed the petitions. The Supreme Court affirmed the lower courts’ decisions, ending the legal challenge to Nwifuru’s election
