....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petition filed by the Accord Party challenging the victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo in the 2024 governorship election.
In its ruling, the tribunal held that the petition lacked merit and failed to provide sufficient evidence to support its claims of electoral irregularities and non-compliance with the Electoral Act. The judges affirmed that the election was conducted in substantial compliance with the law, thereby upholding the legitimacy of Governor Okpebholo’s mandate.
This judgment marks the second petition to be decided in favor of the Governor, reinforcing his victory at the polls. Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have welcomed the ruling as a triumph of democracy and the will of the Edo people.
With this dismissal, the tribunal proceedings move closer to a conclusion, as attention now turns to the remaining petitions yet to be determined.
