Troops Successfully Disrupt Several Kidnap Operations In Plateau And Zamfara, Eliminate Armed Perpetrators

Troops from the Nigerian Army stationed in Jos South Local Government of Plateau State have successfully rescued Mrs. Rosemary Jekpe, who was abducted from her residence in Abuja Layout, Bukuru Low Cost Housing. The rescue operation, led by Director of Army Public Relations Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, took place in Rafinbuna Village, Bassa Local Government Area, where a confrontation with the kidnappers ensued. During the operation, the troops seized an AK-47 Rifle and two motorbikes from the perpetrators.

In a separate incident, a targeted raid was conducted on a suspected criminal hideout in Zamtip Village, Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, based on actionable intelligence. The operation resulted in the arrest of one criminal, while another evaded capture by fatally shooting himself. Among the items recovered were an AK-47 Rifle, ammunition, sim cards, and a Jackknife.

Additionally, in Zamfara State, Nigerian Army troops responded swiftly to a distress call, thwarting the attempted abduction of three individuals by violent extremists near Kwatarkwashi Village. A confrontation ensued, leading to the rescue of the hostages. Unfortunately, one victim sustained injuries and has been evacuated for medical treatment. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.

Furthermore, in response to intelligence indicating the establishment of a new camp by IPOB/ESN militants in Ihiteukwa community, Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State, troops engaged the militants in a sting operation. During the gun battle, one militant was neutralized, and the camp was destroyed. The remaining militants fled the scene, and efforts are underway to track them down. A fabricated single barrel gun was recovered from the militant.
