The murder of Ogege, a 300-level Mass Communication student at DELSU, sparked nationwide outrage in 2018 and intensified calls for justice.

The 22-year-old was found dead in a bush on the outskirts of Abraka, Delta State, on November 18, 2018, three days after she was reported missing on November 15.

Following the incident, the then Delta State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, announced the arrest of two suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as “Yahoo boys,” and a security guard over the crime.

Mustafa told journalists at the time that investigators believed the student was killed by suspected ritualists.

“Some of the principal suspects connected to the crime have been arrested and are assisting the police with ongoing investigations,” the former police commissioner had said.
