U-Turn! Dangote Refinery Restores Petrol Sales In Naira — Reveals Sh*cking Reason Behind Policy Shift

On Friday, the refinery issued a memo announcing the suspension of petrol sales in naira, effective Sunday, September 28, 2025. The decision, it explained, was due to the exhaustion of its crude-for-naira allocation.

The memo stated:
“Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals has been selling petroleum products beyond our naira-crude allocations. As a result, we are unable to continue PMS sales in naira at this time. Kindly note that this suspension takes effect from Sunday, September 28, 2025. Further updates on the resumption of supply will be communicated once the situation is resolved.”

However, in a follow-up memo on Saturday, the refinery announced it had resumed petrol sales in naira following the intervention of the Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee.

The new memo read:
“Following the intervention of the Naira-for-Crude Technical Committee Chairman, we are pleased to inform you that PMS sales in naira have now resumed with immediate effect. Customers may proceed to place their orders in naira, either for self-collection or for free delivery to designated locations nationwide. We appreciate your continued patronage.”
