During his inspection of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Lagos, Umahi emphasized his commitment to elevating concrete road construction to the next level.
The ambitious project is set to be funded and executed by HiTech Construction Company through a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
Upon completion, the coastal highway will span from Lagos through Lekki Deep Sea Port Road, extending to Port Harcourt and Calabar, featuring two spurs.
One spur, part of phase II, will connect to the ongoing Badagry-Sokoto Road, while another spur along the Ogoja axis of the Trans Sahara trade route will contribute to the extensive network.
The initial phase, covering approximately 650km, will include two service lanes with four carriageways on both sides and provisions for a rail line in the middle.
Umahi highlighted that the highway’s design incorporates multiple spurs connecting major towns and cities, with a specific spur linking to the Ogoja axis of the trans Sahara trade route.
