Umo Eno Factor: Ologunagba Opens Up On Why PDP Dissolved Akwa Ibom Structures

The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Debo Ologunagba, has explained that the party dissolved its executive structures in Akwa Ibom State because of the influence of Governor Umo Eno.

On Tuesday, the PDP announced the dissolution of the state executives to safeguard its interests and ensure compliance with national directives. A caretaker committee, chaired by Igwa Umoren, was immediately appointed to oversee the party’s affairs in the state.

Speaking on Channels Television, Ologunagba alleged that the dissolved executives were operating under the influence of Governor Eno, who had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“In Akwa Ibom State, the governor has left. At both the national and state levels, there is hardly a distinction between the PDP executives and their alignment with the APC,” Ologunagba said.

Citing the party’s constitution, he added:
“Section 10, subsection 6 clearly states that no member of the party shall align with other parties or groups in a way that undermines the PDP or any of its governments. Belonging to two parties is unacceptable.”

According to him, the PDP leadership believes the dissolved state executives were controlled by Governor Eno, who had openly declared in a recorded statement that he would oversee both the PDP and APC structures in the state. Ologunagba stressed that such a stance undermines the PDP’s integrity and cannot be tolerated.
