Umo Eno’s Move To APC Will Open Doors Of Prosperity For Akwa Ibom – Okpebholo Declares

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, on his recent and landmark defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Okpebholo commended Governor Eno for his bold and visionary decision to embrace the progressive ideals and national development agenda of the APC, describing it as a move that will open up immense opportunities and fast-track the delivery of democratic benefits to the people of Akwa Ibom.

He noted that Eno’s switch signifies a firm commitment to the state’s advancement and smooth alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative, which is aimed at driving inclusive development across Nigeria.

Highlighting the importance of synergy between state and federal governments, Okpebholo expressed optimism that Eno’s defection would not only strengthen the APC’s foothold in the South-South region but also promote national cohesion and development.

“Governor Umo Eno’s entry into the APC reflects his foresight and dedication to the welfare of Akwa Ibom people,” Okpebholo stated in a message released on Saturday, June 7, through his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.

“This strategic move will pave the way for greater opportunities, deepen intergovernmental cooperation, and accelerate the implementation of people-centered policies in Akwa Ibom State,” he added.

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with his Akwa Ibom counterpart to entrench good governance, spur economic growth, and improve the quality of life for all Nigerians.

According to Naija News, Governor Umo Eno officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC during a high-profile event in Uyo, attended by key APC leaders including Imo State Governor and Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum, Hope Uzodinma, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and several other party chieftains.

Speaking at the event, Eno clarified that his decision to join the APC was not borne out of desperation but strength, asserting that Akwa Ibom must align politically with the federal government to ensure meaningful development.

“We are not joining the APC from a position of weakness but strength. We bring value to the party and the people of Akwa Ibom. We’ve come with a ministry of reconciliation,” Governor Eno declared.
