University Of Calabar Suspends Faculty Of Law Dean Over Alleged Violation Of Policies

In a letter bearing the signature of the University Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe, the suspension is set to become effective from August 17, 2023.

The suspension follows Prof. Ndifon’s response to a prior query issued to him by the University Management, a response that reportedly did not satisfy the Vice Chancellor….CONTINUE READINE

 

Expressing dissatisfaction with the submitted response, the Vice Chancellor took the step to relieve Prof. Ndifon from his position as Dean and impose a suspension. The matter will subsequently be referred to a specially appointed panel for the investigation of the allegations raised against him.

The letter states: “Kindly refer to our correspondence dated August 14, 2023, with reference UC/REG/DISC.45A, which pertains to your alleged violation of the prevailing university laws and regulations, as well as your response dated August 16, 2023.

“Upon careful review of your written representations, the Vice Chancellor remains dissatisfied with your explanations. Consequently, she has directed your removal from the role of Dean, Faculty of Law, and placed you on suspension. During this period, a panel will be established to scrutinize the allegations.

“This change in position and suspension from official responsibilities will take effect from August 17, 2023. It is expected that you will hand over all university property in your possession, including your current official duties, to the Sub-Dean of the Faculty before vacating your office.

“Furthermore, it is required that you refrain from being present on university premises, except when responding to invitations from the panel investigating these allegations.”
