These additional buses will be provided free of charge to students and staff. Three buses will be stationed at the University Bus Terminus at Tipper Garage, Tanke, departing for the campus at 7:15 am daily. For the return journey, the buses will leave the Fountain Roundabout near the Senate Building at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
Furthermore, the university’s management has engaged in negotiations with the State government and private commuter bus operators to address the transportation challenges faced by the university community. The negotiations resulted in the release of three buses by the State government for the university route, and private operators have pledged to offer reasonable fares.
Additionally, to support the virtual lecture initiative, the university will provide free data for all academic staff, aiming to reduce the need for frequent physical presence on campus.
Vice-Chancellor Egbewole expressed the university’s commitment to continue seeking palliative measures to offset the fuel subsidy removal’s effects once the University Governing Council is in place. Financial palliatives and other measures will be considered and implemented with the council’s approval.
The university’s management appreciates the understanding and cooperation of students and staff in sustaining harmony on campus and in the surrounding communities.
