The Borno State Police Command has confirmed the passing of Prof. Ruth Haruna Wazis, a former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri, who tragically died in an accident at her home.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Yusuf Lawal, informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
According to Lawal, Prof. Wazis was parking her car in her garage when a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her to the ground and crushing her chest.
Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to the hospital.
The police commissioner added that her remains were later taken to the hospital by her family members.
