Unraveling The Clash: Wike’s Side Of The Story In The Alleged Anti-Igbo Developer Dispute....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressed dismay over allegations made by a land developer in Abuja, accusing him of harboring anti-Igbo sentiments and resorting to abusive communication via text messages.

In a recent interview with a group of journalists, Wike emphasized that the Federal Capital Territory is entering a new phase where individuals with deceptive motives, particularly in land development, will find it increasingly challenging to operate.

Highlighting the content of the offensive text message, Wike revealed that the developer falsely claimed he had expressed intentions to target the Igbo community. Denouncing this accusation as baseless blackmail, Wike questioned the validity of such claims, especially considering that the land in question was not allocated to any specific ethnic group.

Wike pointed out a prevalent issue of land grabbers masquerading as developers, exploiting loopholes in the system for personal gain. He underscored the prevalence of ongoing legal battles inherited by the FCTA, emphasizing the pervasive culture of impunity that enables such misconduct to persist.

Addressing specific instances of land disputes, Wike recounted an incident where a developer, despite being advised to cease activities on disputed land, continued with fencing and allocations. This defiance prompted legal action, revealing the depth of fraudulent practices employed by some developers.

Wike emphasized the detrimental impact of these activities on government revenue and the intended economic use of allocated lands. He pledged a firm stance against illegal practices, stressing the implementation of stringent processes for land acquisition and development.

Regarding demolitions in the FCT, Wike defended the actions as necessary to curb unauthorized developments that deviate from the intended land use, emphasizing the importance of adhering to legal procedures in land management.

Despite public outcry and legal challenges, the FCTA, under Wike’s leadership, remained resolute in upholding the rule of law and reclaiming lands improperly acquired or developed.

The document signed by the FCTA Permanent Secretary in September 2023, ordering the revocation of numerous land plots due to violations, sparked controversy but demonstrated the administration’s commitment to enforcing land use regulations.

In response to lawsuits filed by affected landowners, Wike reiterated the administration’s determination to uphold the law and protect public interest in land management.

Overall, Wike’s statements underscored a commitment to transparency, accountability, and the rule of law in managing land affairs within the Federal Capital Territory.
