Unstoppable! Tobi Amusan Blazes Into 100m Hurdles Final At 2025 World Championships
World record holder and reigning champion, Tobi Amusan, has stormed into another global showdown after winning her semifinal heat in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amusan clocked a stunning 12.36 seconds (-0.2) to finish ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser (12.45s) and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.51s). The performance reaffirmed her status as one of the world’s most formidable hurdlers as she now sets her sights on the much-anticipated final.
Her brilliant form, however, comes amid controversy in Nigerian athletics. Just days before her race, Amusan openly criticized the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) on Snapchat, accusing them of poor and disrespectful treatment of athletes.
According to her, competitors were given ill-prepared kits packed in polybags—containing only one podium outfit, two undersized track kits, and no proper footwear or dinner attire. She contrasted this with the well-organized and complete kits provided to Jamaican athletes.
Despite the distractions, the 27-year-old star has remained locked in on her mission. With the final around the corner, Amusan carries Nigeria’s brightest hope of striking gold on the world stage.
