Expressing his disappointment with the tribunal’s decision, Ighodalo described the judgment as a “travesty of justice” and confirmed his intention to file an appeal at the Court of Appeal.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Ighodalo criticized the ruling, asserting that upholding Okpebholo’s victory undermines the electorate’s right in Edo State. He emphasized that his decision to appeal is rooted in his commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that the people’s choice is respected.

“I respect the judiciary as the last hope of the common man,” Ighodalo stated, calling on his supporters to stay calm and law-abiding despite the outcome. He maintained that, although they might disagree with the verdict, the rule of law must remain fundamental to democracy.

Ighodalo reassured his supporters that the ruling does not signal the end of their quest for justice. “This is not the end of our journey, but the beginning of a greater struggle for justice, democracy, and the preservation of the people’s mandate freely given to my running mate, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, and me on the platform of our great party, the PDP,” he declared.

The PDP candidate expressed profound gratitude to his supporters, attributing their unwavering commitment and belief in a prosperous Edo State as the driving force of his campaign. He reiterated that his political ambition was never personal but driven by the desire to create opportunities and prosperity for all Edo residents while upholding democratic values.

Ighodalo instructed his legal team to move forward with the appeal process, describing the tribunal’s ruling as a significant setback for democracy. He concluded by affirming his unwavering commitment to truth, justice, and the democratic rights of the people of Edo State.
