As a reminder, last week, the presidential spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, announced that Shettima would represent President Bola Tinubu at the upcoming event.
He clarified that the vice president’s presence at the dialogue was in line with the Food Security and Diversification Policy of the Tinubu administration.
Nwokocha also mentioned that Shettima is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the event, which is slated for Tuesday, October 24. He stated: “While in the US as the special guest, Shettima will deliver a keynote address at the African Development Bank (AfDB) and World Food Prize event, facilitated by the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue, commencing on October 24th, 2023.”
Furthermore, Nwokocha highlighted that Shettima will join other prominent African and international leaders, as well as Heads of State and Government who have previously delivered keynote addresses at the Borlaug Dialogue.
Notable figures include former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan, World Food Prize Laureates, Ghana’s President John Kufuor, AfDB President Akinwunmi Adesina, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and others.
The media aide also mentioned that Shettima is expected to emphasize the ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s agrifood sector and will engage with various stakeholders, partners, and potential investors in exploring opportunities for investment in Nigeria.
Several meetings and engagements have been arranged for the vice president during his visit, and he is anticipated to return to Nigeria following the fulfillment of his commitments in the US.
