US Congressman Reveals Purpose Behind His Trip: Gratitude To President Tinubu

The visit formed part of a fact-finding mission by a U.S. Congressional delegation, which included Reps. Mario Díaz-Balart, Norma Torres, Scott Franklin, Juan Ciscomani, and Riley Moore. They were accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard Mills, and met with Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.

Reflecting on the trip, Moore posted on social media:

“I want to thank National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for a productive and positive discussion with the U.S. Congressional delegation in Nigeria. We explored concrete steps and actions that, if fully implemented, could enhance security nationwide, dismantle terrorist organizations in the northeast, and curb the targeted killing of Christians—particularly in the Middle Belt, a key concern for @POTUS and myself.

“I also commend the Nigerian government and President Bola Tinubu for rescuing 100 innocent Catholic school children—a clear indication of the government’s proactive approach to security and commitment to the emergency measures outlined by President Tinubu.

“The United States’ urgency on these issues was well-received. There is now a real opportunity for a cooperative security framework, exemplified by the newly established Nigeria–U.S. joint task force.

“It is evident that the Nigerian government is open and willing to collaborate with the U.S. on these critical matters. The challenge now is translating this willingness into tangible actions.

“Much work remains, but progress is evident. I look forward to the next steps with the Nigerian government and the continuation of our open dialogue.”
