According to reports from SaharaReporters, the robbery commenced around 5 pm as the assailants launched a violent assault on the banks, initiating indiscriminate shootings in the process.

Despite the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) engaging the robbers in gunfire, the footage revealed the armed policeman opting to hide behind a wall instead of confronting the criminals, despite being armed himself.

Reacting to the policeman’s actions, a resident captured in the recording expressed disdain in Pidgin language, remarking, “Dem de collect boys. See him head. Na to de hid. Nonsense.”

Social media users also weighed in on the incident, with @Godwin_Dgenius suggesting public mockery for the policeman and questioning his heroism in the face of danger.

Similarly, @AirdropCommando highlighted the irony of police priorities, contrasting the response to a bank robbery with actions taken against a citizen for a negative product review.

Furthermore, @Adedamolababy1 speculated on the possibility of the policeman’s involvement with the robbers, suggesting a potentially sinister motive behind his behavior.

The video footage serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in combating crime and maintaining public safety, highlighting the need for continued efforts to enhance security measures and uphold the trust of the Nigerian populace.
