The Labour Party (LP) reported that a fire engulfed the residence of its National Chairman, Julius Abure, on Wednesday, April 3. Additionally, the party alleged an assassination attempt on Abure’s life.
According to Obiora Ifoh, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, the fire broke out at Abure’s residence around 1 am while he and his family were asleep. Ifoh stated that the blaze appeared mysteriously, prompting the family’s rescue efforts by nearby neighbors and security personnel within the compound.
In a statement released by the party, a family member described the ordeal, highlighting how they were initially trapped by the flames that had spread to the staircase, obstructing their exit. Fortunately, with the help of courageous neighbors and security personnel, they managed to create an escape route by breaking down a window upstairs.
Emergency responders from the Fire Service arrived promptly after Abure and his family were safely evacuated. Following the incident, Abure and his family were taken to a private hospital for medical treatment, where their condition is reported to be stable.
