The identified officers are Inspector Ikhanorba Lucky, Inspector Paul Sunday, and Inspector Edwin Ekeogu.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, revealed that on October 19, the Inspectors were involved in “an incident of professional misconduct while on visibility policing duty at Maawu Bus stop in the Agbado area of the State.”

Odutola clarified that these officers were recorded on video openly extorting money from commercial motorcyclists, which contravenes the Police Act and Regulations.

She also noted that the “inappropriate actions of the three policemen were subsequently shared on social media.”

Odutola further explained that the State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, strongly condemned the “unprofessional conduct” of the three individuals.

To address this misconduct, the command has initiated the appropriate disciplinary actions against the officers to ensure they are held accountable for their actions and to serve as a warning to others who might be tempted to engage in similar behavior.

According to the statement, Commissioner Abiodun emphasized his commitment to upholding professional standards within the force to maintain high-quality service delivery to citizens and sustain public trust and confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
