A relative to the former Governor of Ekiti State, Isaac Fayose has claimed in a video currently making the rounds on the internet that if the 2023 election is conducted for the second time due to mild manipulations in the first, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will defect his opponents with a larger margin due to his high rating by Nigerians in his first two weeks of occupying the Villa as the number man of the country.
Indeed, Gen Z, who played a significant role in giving Peter Obi six million votes despite his perceived failure as the Governor of Anambra State for eight years, have begun to express their regret for not casting their votes among the over eight million people who contributed to Tinubu’s emergence. The President-elect emerged victorious in the election, which was deemed free and fair, although concerns were raised about its credibility due to incidents of voter intimidation, particularly in the South East, perpetrated by supporters of Peter Obi. There were also reports of ballot box snatching across the country, allegedly involving state governors and politicians from various parties. Additionally, acts of violence marred the electoral process.
Following their defeat in the election, candidates such as Atiku and Obi have resorted to legal action in an attempt to reclaim what they perceive as a “stolen mandate.” They have pursued this course of action after their party underwent a division, resulting in the formation of three separate entities: the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, and the New Nigeria’s People Party.
Isaac Fayose has appreciated President Tinubu for signing the electricity bill, student loan bill, meeting with key stakeholders from within the country and beyond, amongst others barely two weeks in office.
