Mrs. Igiebor shared her perspective, emphasizing that her long-term sacrifices in the marriage should not be disregarded. She urged viewers who judged her based on the brief video clip to avoid hasty conclusions and to seek a full understanding of the circumstances leading to her actions.

“The situation has been ongoing for a long time. I was just waiting until I returned to Nigeria before taking this step,” Mrs. Igiebor explained. “It’s important to understand what led to this, rather than just reacting to the act itself. I am not irrational; I have valid reasons for my actions after enduring a lot.”

She added, “When you reach a breaking point, you must act. I chose not to cause additional stress while abroad and waited until we were in Nigeria. Don’t make judgments without knowing the full story. I’ve faced numerous family issues and challenges.”

Mrs. Igiebor underscored her frustration, stating, “My suffering shouldn’t be dismissed so easily. I wanted to show that I have been enduring and that actions speak louder than words.”

Earlier on Monday, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) announced it was investigating the incident. The NIS noted that Mrs. Igiebor’s actions could potentially violate Section 10(b) of the Immigration Act 2015 (as amended), which prohibits the intentional destruction of Nigerian travel documents and specifies penalties for such violations.
