A tragic incident has unfolded at the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State, where a female student reportedly murdered her newborn baby in the school hostel.

Graphic videos from the scene show the lifeless body of the newborn lying on concrete. In one video, two students are seen attempting to wrap the baby and the placenta in a towel. Another video captures a crowd of students expressing shock and condemnation as they observe the scene.

As authorities led the 200-level student away, a large group of students gathered to catch a glimpse of her.

The school’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Bello, confirmed the incident, stating that the university promptly notified the appropriate authorities. He clarified that the student’s pregnancy did not occur during her time at the university, noting that the academic session had only recently resumed.

Immediate medical attention was provided to the student following the incident. Bello assured that the university administration is conducting a thorough investigation and taking necessary measures to address the situation.
