According to the Command, the meeting — said to have been convened under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Coalition — was held without notifying security agencies, despite repeated warnings. This, the police said, created an opening for political thugs to unleash mayhem.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, revealed that preliminary findings indicated that “political gangsters and thugs attached to the former Governor” were involved in the shooting that disrupted public peace.

He stressed that no one found culpable would be spared, regardless of their position, insisting that “no one is above the law.”

The police further disclosed that it had reached out to the ADC leadership for clarification. Party officials denied knowledge of the meeting and distanced themselves from any gathering allegedly tied to El-Rufai, reaffirming their commitment to the rule of law.

Hassan also warned that hotels, event centres, and similar facilities would now be held liable for hosting political gatherings without prior notification to security agencies.
