On Tuesday, Adefarasin voluntarily appeared at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja to cooperate with the investigation.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the clergyman is currently being questioned by detectives. In a statement posted on (formerly Twitter), the police clarified that the object in question is not a firearm but a stun gun, classified as prohibited anti-riot equipment under Nigerian law.

Hundeyin further revealed that Adefarasin has been granted administrative bail pending the outcome of the investigation.

The statement read in part:
“Pastor Paul Adefarasin, who voluntarily presented himself at the Lagos State Police Command over the viral video in which he was seen wielding a gun-like object, was interrogated and provided a cautionary statement.

“The object recovered from him is a stun gun, not a lethal weapon or conventional firearm. It is, however, categorized as prohibited anti-riot equipment.”
