A member of the Borno State House of Assembly representing Magumeri Local Government Area, Audu Mustapha, has reacted to a viral video showing him in tears.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The lawmaker recently sparked reactions online after a video surfaced on social media showing him crying publicly.

Explaining the incident in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Babakura Bukar, Mustapha said the tears were tears of joy and appreciation, not desperation over re-election.

He urged members of the public to ignore reports and videos circulating online suggesting otherwise.

According to the statement, more than 100 people from his constituency, particularly vulnerable residents, surprised him by contributing money to purchase his Expression of Interest and nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections.

The supporters reportedly presented the forms to him while encouraging him to seek another term in office.

“They urged him to recontest his seat come 2027, contrary to misleading information that he cried, begging for reelection back to the state Assembly,” the statement read.

Mustapha stressed that his emotional reaction was inspired by gratitude for the support and confidence shown by his constituents, rather than disappointment or frustration.

He also pointed out that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not yet concluded its primary process or selected candidates for elective positions.

“As such, no candidate has been imposed or denied ticket at this stage,” the statement added.

The lawmaker further appealed to the public to disregard unverified claims on social media and rely only on credible information.
