Confirming the arrest at the command headquarters on Friday, February 16, 2024, FCT Police Commissioner CP Benneth Igwe disclosed that the Anti-kidnapping unit conducted a raid on kidnappers’ camps situated on the border of Nasarawa and Abuja, near Kuje area council. During the midnight operation on Thursday, the bandits, upon encountering the police, engaged in a fierce gun battle but were ultimately subdued.

CP Igwe explained, “The police operatives dislodged the camps and arrested one Saidu Abdulkadir, popularly known as Dahiru Adamu, who is the gang leader and one of the wanted suspects of the kidnapping syndicate paraded by the Police Command on 14th February 2024.”

He further revealed that two kidnap victims, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, previously abducted from Kwaita village via Pegi district of Kuje area council, were successfully rescued unharmed during the raid.

The Police Commissioner credited the success of the operation to the support and encouragement from Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, and expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and information that led to the arrest.

Preliminary investigations linked the arrested suspect, Saidu Abdulkadir, to the kidnapping and killing of Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai, the district head of Ketti community in AMAC. CP Igwe emphasized that the arrest was a significant achievement for the command and the FCT administration, paving the way for restored peace and security in the territory.

While efforts continue to apprehend other wanted suspects on the run, CP Igwe reassured criminals in the FCT that there would be no refuge for them. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police through emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, 08028940883, and PCB: 09022222352.
