A one-time presidential aide, Reno Omokri has urged top members of the People’s Democratic Party to win back aggrieved members who are reluctant to leave the party.

The sad turnout of the presidential election whereby the All Progressive Congress flagbearer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the winner after polling over 8.9 million votes, Atiku Abubakar came a distant second with over 6.9 million votes and Peter Gregory Obi came third place with over 6 million votes. Disunity in the People’s Democratic Party made the Former Lagos State Governor emerge the winner even with the flaws and hardship his party caused the nation for the last eight years.

The G-5 is a name given to five aggrieved Governors under the umbrella party namely Wike, Ortom, Makinde, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi. The purpose of the group during the presidential election is to ensure a transitional movement of power from the North (Buhari)  to the South (Any candidate that wasn’t the flagbearer of their party) to encourage unity, equity and peace among the citizens of Nigeria. Moreover, they were top members who didn’t support the presidential ambition of the flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar and therefore played anti-party, The national chairman, Ayu Iyorchia, and Former Enugu State Governor, Nnamani are good examples.

On Wednesday, Reno Omokri urged his party’s top members to win back the G-5 governors irrespective of not liking them as he claimed “Politics is about addition, not subtraction”.

He went further to say the flagbearer of the Labour Party, Peter Gregory Obi who once belonged to his party for over 9 years is finished politically but his supporters dubbed “Obidients” are too myopic to see the truth.

“Politics is about addition, not subtraction. And without the ability to work with people you don’t like, you can’t play additional politics. Nyesom Wike is a very odious fellow. We in the PDP know that. Tinubu and the APC also know that. Nobody likes Wike. But that does not mean we should not work with him. Tinubu is a cartel leader. He is tainted. But as tainted as he is, he is also talented at working with people he does not like. And that is something we in the PDP must learn and imbibe. We must win back Wike, Ortom, Makinde, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi, especially if there is to be a rerun so that we can run Tinubu aground. As for Peter Obi, that one is finished politically. But he and his followers are too full of hubris to realise it”, He wrote.
