In a statement released on Tuesday to mark the anniversary of Yar’Adua’s passing on May 5, 2010, Tambuwal described him as a leader defined by principles rather than showmanship.
He noted that Yar’Adua led with humility and a strong sense of responsibility, always mindful of Nigeria’s delicate unity and the importance of preserving it.
Tambuwal said the late president’s leadership style stood out for its focus on integrity, rule of law, and institutional strength over personal power.
According to him, Yar’Adua believed in governance driven by systems, not individuals, and served as a model of decency and accountability in public office.
He added that even years after his death, the issues Yar’Adua championed—good governance, accountability, and nation-building—remain relevant, with his legacy continuing to shape Nigeria’s political landscape.
Tambuwal concluded by urging Nigerians to remember not just Yar’Adua’s passing, but the values he represented, describing his life as one marked by humility, integrity, and faith in the nation.
