During an official visit to Lagos on Saturday, Adeyeye emphasized NAFDAC’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigerians from counterfeit and harmful drugs.

Following an inspection of seized medications, she reaffirmed that the agency’s actions align with its core mandate.

“We are here to protect lives. NAFDAC is simply fulfilling its responsibility. There is no political agenda behind this operation,” she asserted.

Adeyeye further disclosed that many traders operate without proper registration under the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria (PCN).

She noted that over 1,000 NAFDAC officials are actively working to remove counterfeit, unregistered, and expired drugs from circulation.

NAFDAC has ramped up its enforcement activities nationwide, with recent raids carried out in Onitsha, Anambra State, and Aba, Abia State.

In a major operation, authorities also shut down the Onitsha Bridgehead Drug Market over allegations of distributing illegal pharmaceuticals.
