The fatal accident, occurring on the evening of Friday, January 26, 2024, was attributed to speeding and reckless overtaking. Two vehicles, an ash Toyota Corolla traveling from Mokwa to Bida, and a commercial Nissan bus heading from Minna to Ogbomosho in Oyo State, were involved in the collision.

Tsukwan Kumar, the Niger State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), revealed that the crash claimed the lives of eight female adults, four male adults, and one male child. Additionally, four female adults, one male adult, one male child, and one female child sustained critical injuries.

Following the incident, the injured victims were promptly transported to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Bida for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were handled appropriately. Nine victims were identified and handed over to their relatives at the crash scene, while the remaining four were taken to the mortuary at General Hospital Kutigi. The community now grapples with the aftermath of this heartbreaking tragedy.
