Akpabio made the remarks on Saturday while welcoming defectors from several political parties into the APC at a well-attended event in Plateau. The ceremony, held at the Jos Polo Field, saw the integration of members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party, PRP, African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), according to a statement from his Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Anietie Ekong.

Representing President Bola Tinubu, Akpabio lauded the APC leader for selecting Yilwatda, describing him as a man of integrity, courage, and dignity. He declared, “From today, the entire Plateau is APC. By 2027, Plateau shall deliver the APC. We have received political heavyweights, including former governorship candidates, the Director-General of the PDP campaign in the last election, and several current and former National Assembly members along with their supporters. When you are escorted by a lion like President Tinubu, there is nothing to fear.”

Akpabio also addressed the people’s security concerns, commending President Tinubu’s dedication to ending the killings and displacements that have plagued Plateau for years. He said, “Too many lives have been lost, too many homes destroyed. Plateau deserves peace, and anyone aspiring to govern this state must prioritize peace. President Tinubu is committed to delivering that peace.”
