Why I Turned Down Tinubu’s Offer – Fayose Breaks Silence On Sh*cking Decision
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has disclosed that his decision to focus on his personal life after years in active politics was the main reason he turned down an appointment offer from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain revealed that Tinubu once asked what position or favour he desired, but he respectfully declined.
According to Fayose, after serving two terms as governor and reaching the age of 65, he prefers to live a quieter life, take responsibility at home, and explore other personal pursuits rather than seek political appointments.
He clarified that while he maintains a cordial relationship with President Tinubu, it does not translate into political allegiance or alignment.
Fayose said:
“Have you seen me take any appointment from the APC? Asiwaju asked me, ‘What should we give you?’ and I told him, ‘Nothing, sir.’ At 65, I would rather be at home, more responsible, doing other things that matter. I’ve served well — two-time governor. I’m fulfilled. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”
The former governor also vowed never to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite his open admiration for President Tinubu.
His remarks come amid a wave of defections that has hit the PDP, with several governors and lawmakers recently crossing over to the ruling party.
Fayose, however, stressed that his respect for Tinubu is personal and not political, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the PDP.
