His remarks come amid growing speculation that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is actively courtiWng Jonathan to contest the next election.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show on Thursday, Muhammad-Baba referred to Jonathan as an “attractive candidate,” noting that the former president has gained considerable goodwill since his defeat in 2015.

“I don’t know whether he’s attractive or not — this could be just political permutations,” he said. “Unless Jonathan comes out to clearly state his vision for the country, it’s up to voters to decide if he truly represents a viable option.”

He added that many are merely speculating on regional support bases and the viability of different candidates.

“On the surface, Goodluck Jonathan appears attractive. Since 2015, he’s gained several positives. He conceded defeat quietly, maintained a low profile, earned international respect, and was frequently sent on diplomatic missions. Much of the criticism against him back then now seems politically motivated,” Muhammad-Baba noted.

He also recalled that ahead of the 2023 elections, there were strong rumours that the APC was trying to recruit Jonathan to run under its platform. Although Jonathan never publicly confirmed interest, the speculations persisted.

While acknowledging Jonathan’s potential, Muhammad-Baba emphasized that the former president would need to rebrand himself and prove he offers something new.

“In today’s Nigeria, with economic hardship and widespread public dissatisfaction, any politician — whether from the North, South, or even the moon — must go the extra mile to convince the people that they are a true alternative,” he concluded.
