Why Should I Be Terrified — Rita Edochie Fires Back Over Judy Austin’s Lawsuit
Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has reacted to claims that a reported legal battle involving fellow actress Judy Austin has left her worried or unable to sleep, insisting that she is not afraid of the court proceedings.
Edochie said she was looking forward to the legal process, which she described as an opportunity to address issues she had previously chosen not to discuss publicly.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the actress made the remarks while responding to suggestions that the reported lawsuit had been causing her sleepless nights. She said her immediate priority was celebrating the birthday of May Edochie, whom she described as her “great darling daughter,” before turning her attention to the court matter.
Edochie explained that she had deliberately remained silent about several issues despite having opportunities to speak publicly. According to her, she chose not to force certain conversations into the public space at the time.
However, she suggested that the reported legal action had now provided an avenue for her to present what she knows before the appropriate authorities.
The actress challenged anyone questioning her previous statements to allow the court to determine whether they amounted to defamation. She maintained that if her claims were false, the legal process should establish that, but if they were truthful, she saw no reason to be intimidated by the proceedings.
Edochie further declared that she had much more to say and suggested that the lawsuit had given her an opportunity to speak about matters she had previously kept to herself.
She stressed that she intended to rely on information she knows, statements she has made and claims she believes can be defended before the appropriate authorities, rather than rumours or fabricated stories.
The actress also indicated that she was prepared to disclose more information when the matter comes before the court, maintaining that she had no reason to be terrified by the legal proceedings.
Her comments have generated reactions online, particularly because of her suggestion that the court case could provide an avenue for her to publicly address issues surrounding the dispute that she had previously chosen not to discuss.
