The announcement followed a stakeholders’ meeting held at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt. Chukwuemeka urged all party members to refrain from engaging in the upcoming local elections organized by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
“We just concluded a stakeholders meeting and decided that, as a law-abiding party, we will not take part in the purported local government election slated for October 5,” he stated. “Several months ago, the APC filed a lawsuit that we are not involved in, but we learned that the court issued an order preventing the RSIEC from proceeding with the election until a decision is made. This announcement comes just days after conflicting statements regarding the APC’s participation in the upcoming election were made by the reinstated APC Chairman in Rivers State, Emeka Beke, and the dismissed Caretaker Committee chairman, Tony Okocha.
