Wike challenges the notion of replicating the political landscape of Lagos State in Rivers, emphasizing the impossibility of enforcing godfatherism. He asserts, “See, when you are in a position to think that what is happening in Lagos state, we will do it here, it may be difficult. You can’t continue to say you must be a Godfather of the state. That’s the problem; it can’t be possible. The day I live here, in the name of the almighty God, I have no prodigy to say I must. Why must I produce? Why? What am I hiding? The people of the state should be able to say who I want to produce for Rivers State.”
