Wike labeled Wabara as an “inconsistent character” and a “sellout,” questioning his fitness for the BOT chairmanship. His criticism was sparked by Wabara’s recent endorsement of Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti from the Labour Party. Wabara had controversially claimed that Otti’s re-election was assured despite him being less than a year into his first term.
Wike expressed doubt about Wabara’s loyalty and consistency, highlighting the irony of a senior PDP figure supporting a candidate from a rival party. He stated:
“Wabara is the PDP BOT chairman, yet he supports a governor from another party whose second term he claims is secure. This is someone who says he is the conscience of the party. How did he even become the BOT chairman? He led a team to visit me during the PDP presidential candidate crisis in 2023, promising a report that never materialized. The next day, he was made acting chairman as a reward. What kind of leadership is this?”
